Shepherd Building Group / Portakabin

York based Shepherd Building Group, whose business interests include Portakabin Group, is offsetting its carbon footprint by purchasing 2,500 Plan Vivo carbon certificates from the Trees for Global Benefit project in Western Uganda.

Trees for Global Benefit is coordinated by ECOTRUST, a local NGO, and will reduce the need for deforestation by encouraging more sustainable land-use practices.

“As a York-based organisation, we tend to direct our community support budget to organisations and projects which benefit directly the area where the majority of our employees live and work, but this is a worldwide issue that affects us all.”

– Patrick Shepherd, Deputy Chairman
