Call for information to identify engineering challenges for off-grid isolated communities in the developing world

The United Bank of Carbon (UBoC) is working with partners and seeks information on engineering challenges for off-grid communities in the developing world to help aid the design of green technologies that can make a real difference to people’s lives.

Deadline for submission: 31 January 2014

Submitted information on engineering challenges should be relevant to real life challenges experienced by off-grid isolated communities. Challenges should have the potential to be addressed using electrical engineering solutions (e.g., energy harvesting through solar power (solution) to run fridges to store vaccines and dispensaries (engineering challenge)).

We would appreciate all those who have spent time and/or work with off-grid isolated communities to get involved as we need as many ground-level insights as possible in order for the project to be successful and produce meaningful results.

Please forward this call to other relevant contacts who would be interested in this project.

Please submit all information to Ed Butt: ed.butt@unitedbankofcarbon.com or e.butt@leeds.ac.uk
