Congratulations to all the winners and runners up in this year’s Yorkshire Post Environment Awards! It’s great to see so many companies in the region showcasing their green credentials and Yorkshire being recognised by the keynote speaker, Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman, as a leading region for innovative environmental projects.
I’d particularly like to congratulate one of our founder funders, NG Bailey which won the Climate Change Award. The latest innovation from the building services firm is a ‘green’ cabin for building sites. By incorporating some simple features such as hinge-closers, draught excluders, improved insulation and ‘intelligent’ lighting and heating, the company has been able to offer a cabin which is 40 per cent more energy-efficient than a traditional model. There’s even an energy meter in the cabin so staff site can monitor electricity use.
Well done to Cal Bailey and Colin Robertson – I’m sure NG Bailey will continue to lead the way in cutting carbon emissions in the construction industry.
